Easter Decorating {A little late}

Happy Easter Weekend!

Here I am, finally having enough time to get a little creative with my Easter decorations. Does it still count that it is up before Easter, even if it is by one day? I hope so!

I have mentioned before that my family likes to keep things. Since I have lost my Mom & Papa Rees {her dad} within the past 3 years, I have accumulated a lot of things from my Mom's side of the family. Lots of things.

My favorite has to be the Easter Egg Tree that my mom talked about having up when she was little. All of the eggs were hand painted by my Grandma Rees. It is a really amazing piece of family history.

Today I was going to put together my Grandma's Easter Egg tree, because I can't find the piece of styrofoam I thought I had {insert huge, disappointing sigh here}, I had to find something else to do.

Since I had my box of Grandma Rees's Easter stuff, I went through it {again} and found a few things.
{I am still thinking of the good project for these flowers! I love the colors & variety!}

{Cutouts Galore!}

{Please excuse the quality of the picture, I did this entire project while sitting on my living room floor.
However, that box was full when I started}

Now, you have to understand that in this box all of the contents are from either the 1960's or the 1970's. The contents are pretty random. So, I focused on the Hallmark Easter set from 1976. It has bright colors, a cute rabbit, chicken and some fun sayings.
{These are the coasters}

{This is one of the little figures I found in the box. How cute it that little chick?}

I also grabbed a few supplies: White 11x14 canvas, Scrapbook paper scraps {teal, purple, yellow, light blue}, Washi Tape {light green dots, light pink dots, bright pink strips} and Elmers Spray-On adhesive.

The only vision I had was I wanted to be bright & have a patchwork style too it.

Here are the steps:

  • I started by putting the Green Dot Washi tape on the side of the canvas. {You could paint the canvas also, but I didn't want to wait for it to dry!}
  • Then I laid out the Scrapbook paper & used spray adhesive to stick it down.
  • I took more Washi tape, and covered where the paper overlapped- thus giving me the patchwork look I was going for.
  • Then I picked out a few of my favorite cut outs {Orange & yellow flowers, little chick painting eggs & 2 bunnies who want a jelly bean break}, laid them out & use spray adhesive to stick them down.

This project took about 15 minutes, once I decided on what I wanted it to look like. The spray on adhesive doesn't take very long to dry, so I could hang it up right away.

Do you have any special Easter memories? What are they? I would love to hear!

    1. Hi Kimberly! It is a bit overwhelming going through it all, but it is totally worth it! I love it all! I am thankful that it is already in my family and I have a person/memories to connect it to.
